Sheet operations

Documentation for Sheet operations in the Google Sheets node in SMSPort, a workflow automation platform. Includes details of operations and configuration, and links to examples and credentials information.

Use this operation to read, append, update, clear, or delete sheets and rows within a Google spreadsheet. Refer to Google Sheets for more information on the Google Sheets node itself.

Append or Update Row

Use this operation to append a new row, or update the existing row if it already exists (upsert).

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Append or Update Row.
  • Document: Choose a spreadsheet (From list, By URL, or By ID).
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab where the data should be written.
  • Matching Column: The column header in Row 1 used to identify existing records (e.g. Phone or MRN).
  • Columns to Map: Define mapping between incoming customer variables and sheet columns.

Append Row

Use this operation to create a new row at the bottom of a sheet.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Append Row.
  • Document: Choose a spreadsheet (From list, By URL, or By ID).
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab (e.g. PatientIntake, Leads).
  • Data Mode:
    • Auto-map Input Data: Maps incoming bot fields to sheet column headers automatically.
    • Map Each Column Below: Manually specify which bot variable populates each column.

Clear

Use this operation to clear all data from a sheet while preserving the headers in Row 1.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Clear.
  • Document: Choose a spreadsheet.
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab to wipe.

Create

Use this operation to create a new sheet tab within an existing spreadsheet.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Create.
  • Document: Choose the spreadsheet.
  • Title: Enter the title of the new sheet tab (e.g. FollowUps_2026).

Delete

Use this operation to delete a sheet tab from a spreadsheet.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Delete.
  • Document: Choose the spreadsheet.
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab to delete.

Delete Rows or Columns

Use this operation to delete specific columns and rows from a sheet.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Delete Rows or Columns.
  • Document: Choose the spreadsheet.
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab.
  • Dimension: Select Rows or Columns.
  • Start Index: Starting row/column number (0-indexed).
  • End Index: Ending row/column number.

Get Row(s)

Use this operation to read all rows in a sheet or search for rows matching specific criteria.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Get Row(s).
  • Document: Choose the spreadsheet.
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab.
  • Filter Mode:
    • All Rows: Returns all records in the sheet.
    • Matching Row (Lookup): Specify Key Column (e.g. MRN), Lookup Variable (e.g. {{patient_mrn}}), and Result Column (e.g. DoctorName).
  • Output Variable: Variable name to store the retrieved result into bot memory (e.g. assigned_doctor).

Update Row

Use this operation to update an existing row in a sheet.

Enter these parameters:

  • Credential to connect with: Create or select an existing Google Sheets credentials.
  • Resource: Select Sheet Within Document.
  • Operation: Select Update Row.
  • Document: Choose the spreadsheet.
  • Sheet: Select the sheet tab.
  • Row Number: Specify the row index to update, or match by primary key.
  • Updated Columns: Enter the new values for specific columns (e.g. set Status = Confirmed).
